Aquaponics DIY Cheap

Finally, you can build this aesthetically pleasing Aquaponics system yourself in one day for less than $195.00, which includes lumber, hardware, grow media, pump, fittings, grow bed, timer, PVC and nearly everything else.  Not included in plans, but recommended, are fish, air pump or water test kit.  In most cases, anyone can build this system with locally found materials with the most basic tools and carpentry skills, using a 55-gallon aquarium or any fish-safe container of 50-60 gallons for one unit.
This system is built with simple, inexpensive sturdy 2 by 4 frame work.  Paint or stain it with your color choice.  Single unit has a footprint of only 64” by 42” and grow bed is waist high at 33"  (no stooping or bending and wheelchair accessable). Grow bed is 5’ long by 2’ wide.  This unit can be fitted with artificial lighting to grow indoors year round (plans coming soon).  No longer do these personal Aquaponics systems need to look like some backwoods moonshine still, propped up on saw horses and concrete blocks!

Build multiple units and link together to grow more food with the addition of a larger fish habitat.   E-Plans include easy to follow step-by-step sketch-up plans with illustrations and digital photos, basic tool list, materials list , alternatives materials, local and online materials sources including information sources on the web to help you get up and going.  This is a great and affordable way to get started on learning how to grow your own sustainable food supply.
